4Drive Moldova is a booking platform that connects drivers with local vehicle providers throughout Moldova. We work with established rental companies in multiple locations, giving you access to a range of vehicles suited to different driving conditions. Each booking is handled by the local provider who supplies the vehicle, prepares the rental agreement, and manages your hire from collection to return.
Our role is simple: we present the available options, handle the initial booking advance online, and send you a voucher with all the details you need. The rental company listed in your voucher takes care of everything else, including vehicle handover, documentation, and any queries during your hire period.
The booking process is straightforward. You search for vehicles by entering your collection and return dates, then browse the available options. Each listing shows the vehicle specifications, transmission type, fuel policy, and payment requirements specific to that unit. Once you select a vehicle, you pay a booking advance online by card to confirm your reservation.
After payment, you receive a voucher by email. This document contains the rental company contact details, collection address, your reservation reference, and the balance due on collection. The voucher also lists any optional extras you selected, such as a child seat, additional driver, or written permission for cross-border travel to Romania and Ukraine.
Collection happens at the location specified in your voucher. Some providers operate a desk at Chisinau International Airport (RMO), others meet you at the terminal or deliver to your hotel. You sign the rental agreement with the provider, inspect the vehicle together, and note any existing marks in the agreement. Payment methods for the balance vary by vehicle and are confirmed in your voucher.
We currently work with vehicle providers in Chisinau, Moldova's capital and main gateway. Chisinau International Airport lies 13 km south-east of the city centre via route E581, making it the primary collection point for visitors arriving by air. Urban collection is also available through certain providers who offer delivery to hotels in the Centru district and surrounding areas.
From Chisinau, you can reach Orheiul Vechi monastery in 60 km, Cricova winery in 15 km, or drive 180 km south to Cahul near the Romanian border. The Sculeni crossing into Romania is 18 km from the capital, and Odesa in Ukraine is 135 km away, though cross-border travel requires written permission from the rental company.
Some vehicles in our inventory are offered without a deposit requirement. This means the rental company will not place a hold on your card at collection. No deposit does not change the excess or damage liability terms, which remain as stated in your rental agreement. If damage occurs, you are still responsible for the excess amount specified in your contract.
For vehicles that do require a deposit, the amount and card type needed are shown clearly during booking and repeated in your voucher. If you only have a debit card, consider raising your card limit before travel to ensure the deposit hold can be placed. Requirements vary by vehicle, not by class, so always check the specific listing.
